The Xaquixe glass collection is handblown from up-cycled glass collected by the local communities surrounding Oaxaca, Mexico.
As part of its ongoing efforts to reduce its environmental footprint, the studio has designed a heat recovery system to reuse waste heat and is pioneering the use of biofuels to fuel the furnaces and eliminate dependance on propane. Xaquixe collects waste vegetable oil from restaurants in the region, along with methane from its bio-digesters, to fire its furnaces.
Each handblown glass piece varies slightly in color and form, telling the unique story of the individual who crafted it.
Xaquixe supports the dissemination of sustainable technologies by artisan communities in Oaxaca through its non-profit arm, Procesos Proambientales Xaquixe (PPX) established to research and adapt green technologies based on local systems and resources.
Our version of the traditional highball glass, this Xaquixe glass was created by a glassblower in Oaxaca in a studio with strict attention to environmental sustainability.
